THE PURPOSE

A journal is not a record of being right.

It is a record of the decision process before the outcome is known.

Use the prompts below on a blank page or in your own journal. The goal is to make your reasoning reviewable, especially when the chart is moving quickly or the result is emotionally strong.

01

Market and date

What were you studying, and when did you make the note?

02

Wider context

What did the higher-timeframe view show: directional, balanced, or unclear?

03

Evidence

Which levels, zones, or structural changes were visible across more than one view?

04

Invalidation

What observation would make the idea no longer worth pursuing?

05

After review

What did you learn about your process, regardless of the market outcome?

REVIEW WITHOUT REWRITING HISTORY

A good review can end with “I do not know.”

Separate observation

Write what was visible before you describe what you thought it meant.

Name the boundary

Record what would have invalidated the idea before the outcome was known.

Keep the lesson

The useful result is a better process, not a story that makes hindsight look inevitable.
